HISTORY OF THE DIVOTMASTER
One summer morning, I stopped at one of our local golfcourses to practice chipping before going to work. I was appalled at all the ballmarks that had been left unrepaired on the chipping green.
It occurred to me, "There ought to be an easy way to repair ballmarks quickly and properly, so all golfers would repair them!"
I took this thought to my shop where I started doing some experimenting with different ideas. After making an initial prototype and improving it several times, I finally came up with this tool.
The Divotmaster is an eight-pronged tool with an angle on the inside edge of the prongs. The patented radial design of the prongs along with the inside angle, make it possible to bring the turf up and towards the center everytime you "jab" in the area of the ballmark.
The Divotmaster repairs the ballmark properly without having to lift or twist. The golfer simply "jabs" at the ballmark at approximately a forty-five degree angle and the ballmark is repaired! Each "jab" does the work of three of the two-pronged tools now available! No need to bend over!
I have found, the golfer that makes the ballmark is not necessarily the one that repairs it, otherwise there wouldn't be any unrepaired ballmarks!
I do know when a golfer has a Divotmaster on his/her putter, he/she tends to look the greens over for ballmarks.
It is my belief, if enough golfers that play a particular golfcourse have a Divotmaster on their putters, the unrepaired ballmarks will be greatly diminished or eliminated completely!
